VACCINE ANNOUNCEMENTS

The autumn / winter vaccination programme is currently underway. Both vaccines may be given together to the majority of eligible patients. Please phone the surgery to make a booking if required.


Autumn / Winter Flu Vaccines

Recommended for:

  • People over 60
  • Children aged 2-17 years (nasal spray)
  • Pregnant women
  • Children aged 6-23 months at increased risk
  • Those aged 18-59 years at increased risk


Autumn / Winter Covid 19 Booster

Recommended where it has been more than 6 months since your previous vaccination / infection - and you are:

  • People over 60
  • Pregnant women
  • People aged between 6 months and 59 years at increased risk
  • Additional updates will be posted here as they arrive


Pneumovax – Pneumonia Vaccine

Recommended for:

  • People over 65
  • People aged between 2 yrs and 64 years at increased risk
  • 1 or 2 doses may be needed (5 years apart)

Shingrix – Shingles vaccine

Recommended for:

  • Those over 50 yrs; or those at risk from 18-49 yrs
  • 2 doses, 2 months apart
  • Cost: €190 per vaccine
  • May be ordered through the practice

Arexvy – Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccine

  • Recommended for those over 60 yrs
  • 1 vaccine
  • Cost: €190
  • May be ordered through the practice

MMR – Measles vaccine (also includes Mumps and Rubella)

  • People born after 1978 need to have had 2 vaccines at least 4 weeks apart to be considered fully vaccinated
  • No need to vaccinate if born before 1978 in Ireland
  • Health Care Workers of all ages are eligible
  • Those born outside Ireland if not vaccinated are eligible
